This October the German Embassy Islamabad, ALNO German Living Concepts and the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus (German Cultural Centre Lahore) invited friends and partners to the Holztek Farmhouse to celebrate the world famous Oktoberfest in the heart of Lahore.
The aim was to create a genuine German feel and bring Munich to Lahore with an imported Bavarian musical band, the Rothsees Musikanten, who specialise in performing at Oktoberfests worldwide, and authentic German cuisine comprising & delicatessen such as Brezel (pretzels), Brathendl (roast chicken), Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) and Pichelsteiner & Spaetzle (gulash & noodles).
The beautiful garden was decorated in the traditional blue and white colours of Bavaria and in order to perfect that authentic Oktoberfest feel, the guests were provided with the traditional outfit of the south of Germany, the Lederhosen and Dirndl.
For those who may not be aware, the Oktoberfest which was first celebrated in 1810, is the world’s largest festival. Held annually in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, it is a 16-day-long celebration with more than six million people from around the world attending the event every year.
