“We have acquired comprehensive knowledge on how train fresh employee in a more systematic way”
Cooperative Vocational Training (CVT) has opened up new avenues for companies in Pakistan to train skilled workforce according to the industry demand, standards and values. This is a pilot initiative, but still it has made significant headways, says Mr. Amir Munir, who heads the CEI Supply Chain (Pvt.) Limited, Partner of the DB Schenker Network. Mr. Munir’s company works in the sector of international freight forwarding and logistics and it has been actively partnering in the implementation of CVT, in Karachi at Lahore.
“Before joining CVT programme, we used to hire fresh graduates under a management trainee programme to prepare a workforce according to company’s standards. However, with the CVT programme we are in a position to train these young boys and girls the way it should be,” opines Mr. Munir.
“ I am proud to share that, this is result of successful on-the-job training sessions at Karachi and Lahore which helped us attain a valuable human resource,” he says. Almost 70 percent of young boys and girls, trained by Mr. Munir’s company under the CVT programme, have acquired decent jobs.
Mr. Munir, who simultaneously also chairs the CVT Punjab cluster steering committee, days we have many challenges ahead of us, as this is the pilot programme, but one thing is for certain: we are making inroads in bridging the gap between the corporate sector and he technical institutes.”
We are placing emphasis on familiarizing the corporate sector to the CVT concept of a dual-training system. This system is in the best interest of the corporate sector and our country as well’ Mr. Munir remarks.
