The launch of German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry
Plans laid for German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry in an impressive launching ceremony held at the German Consulate General in Karachi, German and Pakistani companies inaugurated German Pakistan Chamebr of Commerce & Industry GPCCI), an organization created to work hand in hand in with the Pakistan German Business Forum (PGBF) to transform the existing setup in to a full fledge self sustaining Chamber.
GPCCI' s board consists of big German and Pakistani companies. The German Ambassador in Islamabad and the German Consul General in Karachi are its Patrons. GPCCI has been created to spearhead services in order to acquire bilateral status of Chamber with the Association of German Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
The Consul General Dr. Tilo Klinner and the Chairman of GPCCI Mr. Qazi Sajid Ali explained the objectives during the press conference. They apprised the audience that the new organization will offer information and services to the potential investors and trading houses in Germany on various sectors of Pakistan. One of the main tasks of GPCCI is to identify and guide potential trading partners between two countries. In this regard, a further organization by the name of GATE PAKISTAN (German Association for Trade and Economy) was also launched in Germany in August 2014. It is headed by the Honorary Consul of Pakistan for Bavaria, Dr. Pantelis Poetis. It is located in Munich and will promote Pakistan's potential to German companies in general and to SME's in particular. Partially Germany's potential is still untapped because it's the mainstay of the German Economy its famous SME's are until now only sparsely represented in Pakistan.
Consul General Dr. Tilo Klinner and Chairman informed that GATE Pakistan will function as the counterpart of GPCCI and PGBF in Germany. Its main objective is the facilitation of business exchanges organizing networking platforms, events and delegations to Pakistan. The network of GATE, GPCCI and PGBF will lay the foundation for a future Chamber of Commerce.
This trilateral network started to take shape last year with the help of the German Ambassador and the Consul General when a 90 member high power business delegation from Pakistan led by the Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Mohammad Shabaz Sharif visited The Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) in Berlin and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Munich and Upper Bavaria (IHK) organized by Pakistan German Business Forum.
The Chairman of GPCCI, Mr. Qazi Sajid Ali informed that next step is to organize a similar business delegation visit from Germany to Pakistan in 2015, which will show case Pakistan's potential to visiting businessmen from Germany and will also provide an excellent opportunity for Pakistani and German businessmen alike to identify fields of common interest.
