SESSION ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS & PROGRESS IN HEALTHCARE THROUGH GERMAN-PAKISTAN PARTNERSHIPS
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and building on Germany’s growing focus on healthcare as a key pillar of development cooperation with a global health strategy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030, the German-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) partnered with the United Medical Dental College (UMDC) to organize a “Session on Breast Cancer Awareness & Progress in Healthcare Through German-Pakistan Partnerships” on 21st October 2025.
The session highlighted the alarming reality that over 90,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually in Pakistan alone, emphasizing the need for early detection to save lives and how breast cancer can affect both women and men. Simultaneously, the event featured distinguished speakers from GPCCI member companies to showcase the positive business developments and impact within healthcare in Pakistan through their partnership with Germany. German funding and technical expertise are empowering maternal and child health programs, reproductive medicine, and healthcare infrastructure development. The partnership between Germany and Pakistan reflects a strong commitment to making quality healthcare accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all.
We welcomed the following esteemed speakers from Bayer (German Multinational and Major Player in Healthcare & Agriculture), Martin Dow (Partner of Merck Germany), Galaxy Pharma (Partner of Gynemed Germany) and from Senior Expert Service GmbH (SES), Germany’s leading volunteering organization for experts that operates globally across all sectors:
Dr. Nilofar Arshad – General Physician & Certified Family Practitioner
Mr. Josef Schmid – SES Expert in Nursing
Ms. Soubia Hassan – Head of Marketing, Pharmaceutical Division at Bayer Pakistan
Dr. Saif Ur Rehman – Director Marketing, Business Development & Regulatory Affairs at Galaxy Pharma
Ms. Saima Saleem – Group Head Corporate Communications at Martin Dow
Beyond raising awareness about critical health issues, this collaboration between GPCCI and UMDC successfully bridged the gap between academic and business communities, both crucial to Pakistan’s economic growth and future.
GPCCI extends its sincere gratitude to the team at UMDC, all speakers, distinguished guests, and our member companies for joining us in raising awareness on key health challenges and promoting the progress in healthcare through German-Pakistan partnerships.
